Pre-purchase Vessel Inspection

Columbia has significant experience with Sale and Purchase transactions, including pre-purchase inspections on behalf of Buyers. Columbia’s expertise in this field assists Buyers to make qualified investment decisions through reliable vessel information contained in detailed pre-purchase inspection reports.

Vessel Registrations

Through dedicated teams, Columbia can undertake to complete all application forms required for the registration of a ship and complete all other formalities required by various flag administration.

Vessel Condition Inspection

Columbia offers economical solutions for periodical Vessel Condition Inspections predominantly for various owners, Financial Institutions and Leasing Companies amongst others. Columbia also assists with monitoring overall maintenance and condition of vessels on bareboat charterer arrangements through its strategically located offices and experienced Superintendents. These services ensure the preservation of their asset values and future marketability of ships.

Lay-up Services

Columbia can assist with all types of vessel lay-up operations, ranging from short to long-term lay-ups (hot or cold). Assistance is provided to identify and secure suitable locations, whilst ensuring safety of crew and vessel at minimum cost and maintenance. Reactivation of laid up vessels can be provided as required.

Vessel Recycling

Columbia recognizes the importance of protecting our environment through responsible recycling. If requested by owners, Columbia will ensure recycling is carried out according to industry best practices. This includes selection of the appropriate yard and supervision of the process towards a certified completion with full documentation.

CSM is distinctive in having a specialist NavCom department. Our in-house team of experts provides services and support for all types of navigation, communication and IT systems to vessels.

Our skilled field engineers are experienced in dealing with all brands of bridge systems and equipment. Our team also manages the ordering of spare parts and service bookings for our clients, utilising our network of manufacturers worldwide; helping to reduce the risk of off-hire for our clients.

Our specialist engineers setup and rollout IT and Satcom solutions to the fleet, including an online system of monitoring and control of Satcom usage, including all aspects of crew communication.  Our network offers effective, reliable communications between fleet and land-based resources. This comprehensive in-house service allows us to minimise running costs.

Online Crew and Client Portals

Our online Client and Crew Portals provide our clients, crew and management team with transparent real-time communications.

Columbia Shipmanagement’s Client Portal (CSM Client Connect) is a platform that allows clients to access a wide range of information related to the management of their individual vessels. These include access to the AMOS planned maintenance system, procurement management system, QSHE documents, accounts and financial overview and technical files and drawings.

Clients may also access to current crew lists, full details on each crew member, planned crew changes, our web-based vessel tracking system, and vessel specific documents and certificates.

Within the dedicated Crew Portal (CSM Crew Connect), we stay connected to our seafarers at all times. This enables them to view their next planned assignment, check their real-time compliance status and identify any missing certificates or training, even during leave. It also gives them access to company circulars, news and other information which may be of interest or value to them.

Columbia provides clients with financial services in relation to shipping projects and facilitates discussions with financial institutions for loan financing on behalf of clients.
